Sunnies Face Fluffmatte Review

Is it really worth the hype? Everything you need to know.

Last August 08,2018, Sunnies Face’s website was launched. One week prior the website launch, people are going crazy, including me, to get my hands on their first make-up product, the Fluffmatte — a weightless modern matte lipstick.

They introduced their first Fluffmatte lipstick collection with 9 gorgeous shades from nudes to reds.

So, now.. the question is? Is it worth the hype? It is shaking the local beauty world with too much supporters by getting sold out in just 15 minutes after the website launch! I know, it’s insane. It’s almost like Kylie Jenner’s 1-min sold out moment!

Here’s my honest review.

Packaging

The Sunnies Face Fluffmatte box packaging is really cute, minimalist, simple yet sophisticated. The color of the box packaging differs by every shade which is I think a really good thing so I can easily identify which shade is which. The shade name is placed on top as usual, and the product ingredients, expiration date and other information on the sides.

The lipstick is sealed in a round container with an off white or washed-out cream color. It’s beautifully minimalistic in style as they put the brand name’s logo on top and shade name at the botttom.

Shade Range

I can say that Fluffmatte’s shades is gorgeous and very wearable — something that’ll look good on both mestizas and morenas. Although the shades are very common, don’t you think? I mean, you can literally see those shades on every existing lipstick brands already.

Here’s the swatches on arms and lips from Sunnies Face instagram account.

Formula

When I attended the Sunnies Face party last Thursday, I went straight ahead to the lipstick swatching station and tried the Fluffmatte lipstick in the shade of Baked. The first thing that came into my mind after swatching Fluffmatte is that it feels exactly the same with Maybelline Powder Mattes.

Anyway, here’s my thoughts about Sunnies Face Fluffmattes:

—It’s a little bit creamy, glides smoothly, and has this powdery feeling.
—Very pigmented and the color is buildable
—Feels light on my lips
—Matte finish
—A bit drying on the lips as it stays longer

I personally love the creamy texture and matte-finish of Fluffmattes. It’s the kind of formula that I like— matte finish yet it doesn’t feels like matte or super drying/flaking on the lips. It makes my lips dry after hours of wearing it though! so don’t forget to always prep your lips and moisturize.

Over all, for me, the formula, texture and finish of Sunnies Face’ FluffMatte is very similar to Maybelline Powder Matte lipstick. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing, considering that Maybelline is an international brand.

Staying Power

Despite having a matte finish, it stays for only 3-4 hours without eating and drinking.

It is NOT transfer-proof and fades patchy and uneven on the lips. So you have to check and re-apply specifically on the inner corner of your lips.

Price

I have to say that ₱ 345.00 is very affordable. It’s no doubt that everyone are going crazy for this lipstick because it’s an IT girl’s aesthetic and luxury feels but the price is totally fair. Also considering the packaging, quality, and overall design, it’s not that bad.

Basic Information

Sunnies Face Fluffmatte is said formulated in Italy, yes—but it is made in China. I think I have to emphasize this thing because people think it’s made in Italy because of misinformation of some people. You can clearly see it in the box that it’s made in PRC.

Shelf life: 3 years — that’s over the normal 2 yr shelf life of lipsticks, so yay!
Fluffmatte claims to be paraben-free and cruelty-free.

Where to buy? — sunniesface.com — Lazada — Physical Stores (Glorietta 1 and UPTC)

So is it worth the hype?

It’s a yes for me! Although, it doesn’t have a ‘wow’ factor on the staying power, I am very impressed on how everything is perfectly curated— from the packaging, box design, colors, formula, quality and the physical store’s interior. It’s a plus factor for me that Sunnies looks like they gave it all (kumbaga hindi tinipid) as usual and well-planned considering the price of the FluffMatte. If you care about aesthetics, packaging, etc, it’s a yes. If not, I’m not sure if you’ll like it.

Rating: 4/5

That’s all guys! I only got 3 shades — Vacay, Girl Crush and Hot Sauce and here’s some portraits.

What do you think? Did you get your own Sunnies Face’s Fluffmatte already?

Love Always,
